The scenic overlook coming in to Ukiah on the Blue Mountain Scenic Byway from Heppner. Big expanses of fields, forests and sky.

Same again.

More great eastern Oregon roads. This time between Ukiah and North Powder.

The eastern half of the stretch between Ukiah and North Powder was new to us on this trip, and proved to be a very worthwhile road, espcially the west half where it ascends to Anderson Lake. The east half had quite a bit of gravel on the pavement. It's probably better later in the summer.

A view through the cockpit of my ST1100 on the way to Anderson Lake.

The view from the overlook.

We reached Baker City at about 7:30 PM and found a decent room at the Rodeway in (about $70).

After a mind numbing drive down Interstate I-84 from Baker City to Boise, we grabbed lunch at a Subway to take to the hot springs and headed up Rte. 21 and the town of Lowman. Lots of traffic due to it being a Sunday, but most of it was coming down the mountain while we were going up.

Excellent pavement on Rte. 21.

This blurry, zoomed in picture shows Rte 21. cut into the sides of the hill as it winds on down. Nice linked turns.

Yet another set of linked curves on Rte. 21.
