We set off for Dunedin - I drove part of the way. It was rather bleak in Dunedin, but we eventually found our way to the Larnoch Castle, where we got a room in the Coach House for the night - it's up in the hills on the penninsula outside of dunedin, and we had a fine view and twin beds that had cozy quilts and felt like hammocks. Cozy! Stayed up after our dinner, reading and drinking coffee. Other than a clock alarm going off in a vacant room after midnight for 1 1/2 hours (till Jim awoke and called the castle for someone to come shut it off) we slept fine!

Took the tour of the castle by ourselves after breakfast - pretty neat! The man who built it about 100 years ago ended up committing suicide due to a "domestic scandal" with his third wife! His first two wives were half sisters who died of natural causes, the first before the castle was completed.
